A Crepe Griddle Makes Perfect Crepes A Breeze

You will find several types of crepe griddles. The term crepe griddle is always used for metal pans made specifically for cooking crepes over the stove. However, sometimes the same term is used for electric or gas heated crepe makers.

The straight forward crepe griddle in terms of features is a flat, round frying pan, that is shaped as you have known similar to a crepe. This pan allows for the even distribution of heat, and ease in making uniformly sized crepes. It is also non-stick, so flipping the crepes over is an easier affair. Apart from these advantages, this type of griddle is used the same way you would use a frying pan for cooking crepes.

You will find a particular crepe griddle. It looks a frying pan with a dome shaped surface. This hot surface is dipped in batter, which adheres to the pan so there is no need for smoothing or spreading it out evenly. It cooks this way, and then is ready to eat.

This version of crepe griddle is generally referred to a crepe maker. For some the use of the word griddle doesn't seem to fit the tool, but it is still used fairly commonly. These crepe makers are composed of a heated plate. The crepe batter is spread onto the plate, often using a specific tool designed just for that purpose, and the top plate is closed down over it. The top plate is also heated, which means that both sides are cooked at the same time.

Utilizing the electric or gas crepe griddle crepes will be cooked more perfectly, smoothly and in a breeze. These appliances have an automatic thermostat and ready light, so you are notified when the crepes are cooked to perfection. With this type of griddle you are sure to get perfect crepes every time, but some would argue that the fun is taken out of the crepe making process.

For the passionate ones who delight in creating things, exploring innovation and enjoy the satisfaction of flipping over a perfectly browned crepe (and who don't mind the occasional disappointment of a burned, torn or wrinkled crepe) the more traditional type of griddle is the best option. Those looking to make perfect crepes quickly and with little effort will love the crepe maker.
